Fortnite receives update 3.5 for Battle Royale and “Save the World” today on April 19th for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and iOS. The patch notes mention a new mode, a new LMG weapon, and some lucrative compensations for last week’s server downtime: Players will receive double EXP for 4 days.
Massive compensation for the server downtime in Fortnite
At the beginning of the patch notes, Epic overwhelms players with bonuses and compensations for the major server downtime from a week ago:
- In Battle Royale, players will earn double experience points from today until Sunday – additionally, players receive a one-time reward of 20 Battle Stars
- In Save the World, players will receive a Storm Llama daily until Sunday – plus, 1600 Seasonal Gold
Last week, players already received compensations for the server downtime.
Additionally, Epic states: We have improved the resilience of the servers to avoid such long downtimes in the future.
The highlights of the patch notes for Fortnite: Battle Royale
The 50v50 2.0 mode is in the game. We have already presented this new limited-time mode in detail. The 50v50 mode was supposed to come last week, but Epic postponed it because they wanted to be cautious after the server crash.
The Light Machine Gun is coming. It comes in “rare and epic” variants. It has 100 shots in the magazine and a reload time of 5 seconds. It deals 25 damage (rare) and 26 damage (epic).
Additionally, there is a bug fix in the Fortnite update for shooting from cover.
The highlights of the patch notes for Save the World
A new quest line comes with “Storm’s Advance: Encore”. At the end, the player can probably acquire one of these two heroes. According to in-game messages, these are supposed to be “legendary heroes”. So the second highest category.
And also in Save the World, a new weapon comes with the “Mercury LMG”. It is available in the event shop.

The exciting question remains after the patch notes: Will something happen with the comet? There is no mention of this in the Fortnite patch notes, so we will have to wait until the servers are back online.
