The live event at the end of Season 2 brought a big change to Fortnite: Battle Royale. The storm, known since the beginnings of Fortnite, has now become a tsunami. We show you what changes with it.
What is going on in Fortnite right now? On Monday, June 15, the live event at the end of Season 2 of Chapter 2 took place. Although the event did not significantly change the Fortnite map, the familiar storm is now completely different.
This has now become a threatening tsunami that gradually swallows the map in a round.
Instead of storm, now tsunami?
What type of storm is this? Normally, you start a Fortnite round and after a few minutes, the storm circle begins to close. The storm continues to shrink until the entire map is affected.
Those who are in the storm take damage until they can get out. This mechanic has existed since the beginnings of Fortnite. There was even an item with which players could summon a storm themselves.
What is different now? Although players continue to take damage in the “storm”, it is now a tsunami that chases you. From a distance, you can already see the massive wall of water getting closer. It looks very threatening.
If you are not fast enough to reach the marked safe zone, you will be swallowed by the wall of water and can only swim to get out quickly.
It is important to stay close to the ground. Because if you swim too high and manage to escape the tsunami, you will fall to your death.
It will be exciting to see how the tsunami will develop when Season 3 starts on Wednesday, June 17. Currently, it is unknown whether this new mechanic will remain. Epic already shows the first teasers for the start of Season 3 and it still seems that “water” will truly be the theme of the next season.
