Fortnite (PC, PS4, iOS & Xbox One) is currently worth a lot as a physical version. Online, game boxes with the title are changing hands for 200 US dollars or more.
Fortnite boxes for 200 dollars? Currently, physical versions of Fortnite are highly sought after on digital marketplaces like Amazon or eBay. Anyone offering a boxed version for PS4 or Xbox One of Epic’s colorful shooter can expect prices between 100 and 200 dollars. Some have even sold for up to 450 US dollars.
Fortnite is free! However, the extremely popular Fortnite: Battle Royale is available for free via download. The still paid PvE version “Save the World” is also available online for just about 40 euros. What’s going on?
Physical versions are a rare commodity!
Why are people paying so much money? The absurdly high prices for physical Fortnite versions have a simple reason: Epic is no longer producing boxes and is focusing solely on digital distribution in the future.
Anyone who still wants Fortnite – whether “Battle Royale” or “Save the World” – has to get it digitally. The remaining boxes are therefore correspondingly limited and thus rare.
Collectors love the physical version!
Collectors want something tangible: Collectors want to have a box of Fortnite on the shelf for their collection. Unfortunately, many fans only came to Fortnite later, when Epic was no longer offering boxes.
Supply and demand: Some players now want to complete their collection, driving prices up on the internet. So if you have a physical copy of Fortnite and need money, now might be the ideal time.
