Tyler “Ninja” Blevins is back on Twitch after a year on the streaming platform Mixer. He has the largest channel in the world with 14.8 million followers. He is playing Fortnite again and has the most live viewers right from the start.
When was Ninja last seen on Twitch?
- Ninja’s last Twitch stream took place on July 29, 2019. He played Fortnite for nearly 7 hours in front of an average of 46,670 viewers.
- On August 1. Ninja switched to Mixer, where his viewer numbers dropped, but his income and frustration increased.
- Now on August 5, he is back on Twitch for the first time after more than a year in exile from the platform. Currently, around 80,000 people are watching him. It is still very early in the day in the USA. Ninja started the stream at 8 AM local time, playing with his buddy DrLupo.
Ninja is still free – streaming wherever he wants
What does this mean? For now, it means not much, as Ninja is still unbound. Just like in his stream on July 8 on YouTube, he appears here as a “Free Agent”, streaming without being bound to a streaming platform through an exclusive contract.
Ninja says: The relationship is “complicated.” He might have something going on, but he can also meet with others.
Ninja has been without a contract since Microsoft announced the end of the Mixer platform and Ninja opted for a payout instead of switching to Facebook.
During the stream, he throws some side jabs at Twitch and Mixer:
- Twitch stripped everything away from him, taking his partner status and thus the subscribe button (and also his pride and some crucial inches in confidence…)
- He can no longer promote Mixer either, as it has, of course, closed down.
Ninja back on top at Twitch
Why is he streaming then? Ninja seems to want to show with these two streams that he is still here and that he can attract huge audiences right from the start without any preparation.
This should help him in a contract negotiation with the three options that are in question.
The plan seems to be working well for him. Currently, he has more viewers on Twitch than anyone else. He is ahead with 76,861 viewers compared to NICKMERCS and TimTheTatman, who are both showing the new Season 5 in CoD Warzone.
Update 4:50 PM: It was a short stream from Ninja. It lasted less than two hours.
At 4:50 PM German time, Ninja already said goodbye to his viewers after playing Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone.
Ninja said in his farewell that he misses streaming, and the stream has now shown him how much fun he has. He is really looking forward to playing Call of Duty: Warzone with his “guys”, with Cloakzy, Nickmercs, TimTheTatman, or Courage.
He will stream again soon, doing so regularly, and he loves his viewers, he said at the end of his first Twitch stream after a year.
It is no coincidence that Ninja is coming back to Twitch today. Besides the Season 5 in Call of Duty, there is also a lot going on in Fortnite. A big new patch was released this morning. What it has changed, MyMMO expert for Fortnite Eilyn Rapp tells you here:
