In Fortnite (PC, PS4, Xbox One, iOS) a mysterious comet is steadily approaching the map. Data miners have found clues that the meteor will introduce a new game mode called “Impact” and possibly signal the end of Season 3 and the beginning of Season 4 along with its Battle Pass.
If you look up at the sky during combat pauses in Fortnite: Battle Royale, you should see a comet there. This heavenly body has been visible for weeks and is noticeably getting closer. But what is the significance of the comet?
Up to now, the most common theory has been that the developers want to eliminate the notorious location Tilted Towers because its powerful loot is too tempting, causing the player count to dwindle too early.
The comet likely brings a new limited-time game mode named Impact
Meanwhile, YouTube data miners “DieBuddies” have found solid evidence of the comet’s true function. According to the data extracted, the comet is supposed to bring a new game mode called “Impact”.
Curiously, this mode is said to only be available for solo players. Currently, there are many theories about what the new mode will be and when it will come:
- Impact could still destroy Tilted Towers and players would have to fight over the ruins
- Impact could be a mode where random “red zones” like in PUBG appear alongside the blue storm death zone. In these zones, small comets would strike instead of grenades.
- Impact could come on April 18, as a real meteor shower is supposed to be visible on that day
- Impact could signal the end of Season 3 on April 30. After all, the comet fits the space theme of the pass.
- Some players are already speculating about the new theme of the 4th Battle Pass. It could be dinosaurs, as a cosmic impact once wiped out the ancient creatures, and they might return to Fortnite due to the comet. Curiously: Through the replay function, players have seen beneath the map in Tilted Towers and discovered something like an egg…
