Today, on Good Friday, an update has been released for Fortnite . Patch 8.40.1 (2.16 by another count) fixes some quirky bugs. We take a look at the patch notes in English.
What kind of update is this? Today’s patch is an out-of-schedule update. Normally, Fortnite only patches once a week on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The update today became necessary because too many bugs and issues were present in the large update on Wednesday, which apparently disturbed players.
The latest update arrived around 12:00 PM today, despite it being Good Friday.
False message caused panic: Players had mistakenly been shown that they had dropped to a lower arena division. This was just a display error, and now the display is correct again.

Crazy beard bug: In the new limited-time mode “Deep Fried”, the beard of the skin Blackheart grew uncontrollably until it blocked the entire field of view. The update has brought this under control.
In “Deep Fried”, nameplates and indicators for allies were also disabled.

Issues in Air Royale: In the new airplane mode “Air Royale”, there was a bug that caused all bushes to disappear after playing a round there.
The bushes were then gone in all game modes.
Mobile issues in Fortnite: Those playing on a mobile device who pressed the weapon or building keys too quickly could cause functional disruptions. This bug should also have been fixed by the new update.

So far the reaction to the patch: There are already the first reactions on Twitter regarding the patch. However, criticism of Epic with “Revert” continues to dominate here.
Many players are still struggling with the controversial patch 8.20, which significantly altered the rules for Fortnite.
Moreover, Twitter users criticize other problems like lag in the endgame or annoying bugs in Fortnite.
The last two patches 8.30 and 8.40 changed almost only minor aspects of the game or introduced new modes. The far-reaching changes from 8.20 have not been reverted.
