The third starter pack: Today, on August 28, 2018, the PlayStation Store of the United Arab Emirates releases the latest starter pack called “The Ace”. This is the third of such packs; the first two were the “Halo Skin” and the “Wingman”.
The contents of the new starter pack: The centerpiece of the new starter pack is Ace, the new outfit of the same name. It features a masked woman. She wears a hood. Her colors are red, white, and black.
Additionally, there is another back bling called “Swag Bag”. It looks like a sports bag full of V-Bucks.
The outfit looks like a popular TV series
Where is the skin known from? The new outfit is meant to represent a type of thief. Many believe the outfit references the new TV series “Money Heist”. This is a Spanish TV series from 2017 that was very successful on Netflix.
Fortnite is known for generously using popular culture.
A real bargain?
What else is in the Ace pack? As usual, the developers have included 600 V-Bucks in the pack. This is approximately 6 euros.
Is the starter pack worth it? The pack costs only 4.99 euros. This is less than the value of the included V-Bucks. The skin and the back bling are therefore a free bonus.
Ideal for bargain hunters: So if you like playing Fortnite but do not want to spend much money on skins, this is the right choice. Normally, character skins cost at least 8 euros and usually do not include a back bling or extra in-game currency for this price range.
Why is Epic doing this? However, the special offer is not just pure goodwill from Epic Games. Rather, such bargains attract people to the shop who have not yet made any microtransactions in the game. This provides Epic with valuable “first purchases.”
The idea behind it is that a player who has purchased something once is more likely to buy something a second time. Especially since the 600 V-Bucks from the pack alone are not enough for additional character skins, and some players will surely reach for their virtual wallet again.
When exactly does the pack come out? The exact release time on August 28 is unfortunately still unclear.
