Fortnite (PC, PS4, iOS & Xbox One) has a new game mode! In the Solo Showdown, you compete against the best players and can win big V-Buck packages.
What is the Solo Showdown? A new game mode in Fortnite: Battle Royale started on May 17. In “Solo Showdown,” everything proceeds like in a normal solo round, with the difference that you will be rated based on your performance. After 50 matches, which you must complete by May 21, your ranking will be compared.
If you make it into the top 100 players worldwide, you win big prizes!
Your performance counts!
How does the new mode work? In the competitive game mode Solo Showdown, you play regular solo matches. There are no additional rules regarding loot or the storm. The only difference is: You earn points per match based on your placement.
How many points are there? Depending on how long you survive, you earn more points after each match. The following table shows the exact amounts.

Will there be a Camp Festival? So only the placement in the match counts, not the battle performance. It can happen that one might rank high just by camping and hiding. Therefore, some players view the new mode rather skeptically.

What do the points bring? The points are added up in the first 50 matches in the Solo Showdown. Only these matches count, anyone who continues to play after the 50th match receives no credit for it.
On May 21st at 4:00 PM, the event ends and the points will be calculated. The top 100 players with the most points will then receive big prizes:
- 1st Place: 50,000 V-Bucks
- – 4th Place: 25,000 V-Bucks
- – 50th Place: 13,500 V-Bucks
- – 100th Place: 7,500 V-Bucks
The winner’s prizes are quite valuable. 50,000 V-Bucks equals 500 Euros, which you would have to spend for it! With that, you can buy some skins in the shop.
Is there nothing else? Anyone who completes 50 games in the Solo Showdown will also receive a special spray paint. And it doesn’t matter how good or bad they performed overall. So make sure you play Solo Showdowns instead of regular solo matches.
The participation conditions: Not for children!
Every Fortnite player can participate in the competition. You do not need to purchase the game. However, you must not work for Epic, be related to Epic employees, or be under 16 years old.
Therefore, many young Fortnite fans will probably not have much fun with the new game mode. You can find the complete rules for the competition on the official Fortnite website.
The developers want to test with this mode whether such competitions are worthwhile in the future. If Solo Showdown succeeds, there will likely be more of them soon. Earlier today, we reported on a “competitive mode” as a leak – this could be it.
