After just a few hours, Thanos is in trouble in Fortnite. He was just too powerful in the new mode “Infinity Gauntlet.” In the new update, he will be slightly nerfed via a hotfix.
This is how Thanos is getting nerfed. It was already known that Thanos is powerful, but this was perhaps just a bit too much. Since 11:30 AM, the new mode has been active in Fortnite. Just hours after “Infinity Gauntlet” went live, Epic has released a hotfix to tone down Thanos a bit.
- Thanos’ shield is reduced by 100 points – from 300 to 200
- His health points increase by 100 points – from 700 to 800
- His laser deals 12 points of damage instead of 15 points.
This way, Thanos remains powerful – but should not be quite as overpowered anymore. The change seems to have come after feedback from the Fortnite players. They complained that Thanos rarely dies and thus only one player per match has a chance to be that powerful. Thanos regenerates his shield completely with each kill, which seems to be a problem when it was as strong as before.

White weapons dropping – this shouldn’t happen
This will also be changed. Another fix is still pending in Fortnite. According to the patch notes, only “rare, epic, and legendary weapons should drop” in the “Infinity Gauntlet” mode – but white and green ones are dropping as well. Epic is still working on this, and it will likely happen in one of the next hotfixes.
