The online shooter Fortnite apparently plans a major event around the Ice King and the Ice Storm. 13 challenges have now been discovered in the database. It seems like winter is near for Fortnite. The event has a “Game of Thrones” touch: Ice zombies are likely to invade.
This is what data miners have found: Today the patch 7.20 went live and data miners have heavily rummaged through the code. They have plundered information indicating that a new event is coming. Players expect these things:
- Map changes
- new modes
- 13 challenges for an “Ice Storm” event
- and corresponding rewards
These challenges are known: Of the total 13 challenges, 7 are known
- Complete the Ice Storm challenges
- Deal damage to the Ice Legion
- Deal damage to the Ice Legion in a match
- Deal damage to the Ice Legion with explosive weapons
- Deal damage to the Ice Legion with assault rifles or pistols
- Deal damage to the Ice Legion with shotguns or submachine guns
- Destroy an ice crystal in various missions
Are ice zombies invading Fortnite?
Who is the Ice Legion? We don’t know yet. But it sounds like they are PvE enemies in “Battle Royale” like the “zombies” were in the past.
These are the rewards: There are already hints about an “ice wrap” and an ice glider.
The wrap is available after the first challenges; the glider only after completing all 13 challenges of the special ice challenges in Fortnite.
Winter is coming… in Fortnite
That’s why it fits so well: The ice idea fits well with the currently low temperatures.
However, it is noticeable that there are some parallels to the successful series “Game of Thrones” and its 8th season. There, too, “ice zombies” threaten to attack the world. It has already been suspected that Fortnite might be planning a “Game of Thrones” crossover. Dragon eggs have already been discovered – apparently, a sword is also on its way again.
The next season of “Game of Thrones” is set to start in April, but promotions are already in full swing. It seems like winter could also come to Fortnite soon.
When is all this coming? We don’t know yet. But Fortnite has often ended its season with a big bang. Maybe the winter event will start in January and extend over several weeks until the start of season 8.
