Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4 & Xbox One) currently has no vehicles. But according to a data miner, that could change soon. The vehicles in Fortnite would be something very special.
Fortnite: Battle Royale, unlike its competitors H1Z1 and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), has no vehicles. After the jump, you must explore the map on foot and can only ride rockets or use jump pads for extra speed.
Those who want to drive cars or motorcycles will not be able to fulfill that wish in Epic’s Battle Royale game. Or could they?
Instead of cars… shopping carts?
The YouTuber and data miner iOllek regularly searches the game files for hints of new features. He often discovers contents that are located in certain test folders and that grow with each update.
Therefore, iOllek was also very excited when he found a folder called “Drivable Vehicles” after the last Patch 3.0. There was, among other things, the 3D model of a vehicle: it was a shopping cart! There were also animations for getting in and out.
Are the vehicles only for mini-games?
Indeed, with the last update, shopping carts suddenly appeared everywhere on the map. At one point, they are even lined up like on a racetrack at the starting position. It is quite possible that this is a special mini-game, similar to football, and that you can race wildly with the shopping cart in certain areas.
The shopping carts could also be a gag for a new limited-time mode. After all, developer Epic has announced a dozen or more of such new, crazy game modes.
However, the Fortnite map might be a little too small for free driving with vehicles. Therefore, many players do not want vehicles like in PUBG and others. The hoverboard from the PvE mode would likely be a better idea, according to many players.
Jetpacks, C4 mines, and machine guns
Besides the hints about the shopping cart vehicles, iOllek found a bunch of other cool features in the game files:
- Jetpack: The jetpack was found by iOllek some time ago, but it seems there are now more files related to it.
- Double Jump: This ability exists in PvE. It may also come to PvP.
- Keen Eyes: In PvE, this ability is a kind of loot wall hack that allows you to see items through walls. It might only be for testing purposes in the PvP folder.
- C4: This could be an explosive trap that you can trigger either via remote or as a proximity mine. It would only be usable once and would likely cause widespread destruction.
- Grappling Hook: With this item, you may be able to pull yourself up to remote areas in the game world.
- Pop-Up Grenade: Here, iOllek suspects that it is a grenade that instantly creates a barrier.
- Vacuum Grenade: This grenade could be the opposite of the impulse grenade and pull enemies towards it.
- M249: A 3D model and color codes for rarity are already available for this light machine gun. It’s quite possible it will come soon.
- Assault-SAW: This light machine gun already exists in the PvE mode. It is also available as a model and with color codes for rarity.
All of this sounds pretty cool, but keep in mind that such data mining information should always be taken with caution. In the end, everything could turn out completely different. We have embedded iOllek’s video here for you. Enjoy!
