In Fortnite, dataminers have found a mysterious currency in the data. Will this be a new way to “purchase” weapons and items in the game? We will show you what has been found.
What has been found? The dataminer HYPEX discovered a new type of item or currency called “Wad” in Fortnite’s data after the last update. According to the leaker, these are supposed to come in stacks and a safe should also be found, as was presumably planned.
So far, it seems there are 4 stacks containing different amounts of this “currency”:
- Small Wad Bundle: 25 Wads
- Medium Wad Bundle: 100 Wads
- Large Wad Bundle: 250 Wads
- A Safe: 500 Wads
He shared his find on Twitter and explained what has been discovered about this currency so far:
Will vending machines make a comeback soon?
What could this find mean? Back in Season 3 – Chapter 1, vending machines were introduced. These were scattered all over the map, and you could trade various weapons and items for materials there. The higher the rarity of the items in the machine, the more materials you had to “pay”.
Later, the machines became free, but the catch was that you could only take one item. After that, the vending machine completely disappeared, and no one had access to it anymore.
If such a currency were to be introduced, the vending machines might return in a changed form. Instead of materials, you would have to pay with “Wads” to obtain a cool item from the machine.
When might the new item arrive? Since this is just a leak for now, it is still unknown what exactly the item will be, how it will work, and when it will be released.
However, if this theory does turn out to be true, it would be a larger change that could influence gameplay. Such major changes are more likely to happen at the start of a season. We will see if this is expected in the new Season 5.
What is certain about the future of Fortnite has already been “secretly” revealed by Creative Director Donald Mustard in a podcast. He had hidden many hints in his room for the video conference that point to future content and collaborations.
