Customer service representative speaks: The US site Kotaku spoke with a support representative from Fortnite. She remains anonymous, however, as company policy generally prohibits employees from talking to the press. But the employee “Randi” loves her job and wants to raise awareness about what happens to her every day. Because on forums like Reddit, users often complain about customer support. However, this is undeserved.
Many new colleagues: Randi says that due to the enormous growth of Fortnite, many new employees have been hired. Therefore, some of her colleagues are still fresh and need time to find their footing. Epic confirmed to the site Winfuture that the support team increased sevenfold from December 2017 to April 2018 . Another doubling is planned.
Delicious free V-Bucks lead to hacked accounts
Children often get scammed: One of the largest customer groups seems to be young players who fall for one of the many scam sites on the internet. The problem with cheaters is that they often complain, blocking the time of support staff. Because you have to respond to them as long as they write, Randi explains. Angry users often demand that Epic give them back the money they spent on V-Bucks. They also curse during this.
Conspiracy theorists, dumped girlfriends, and shotgun victims
Conspiracy theories going around: Some of the most bizarre tickets relate to conspiracy theories. Some apparently believe Fortnite is pay-to-win. The idea circulates that players who spend a lot of money in the cash shop also deal increased damage with the magical skins.
Shotgun victims: Every day, Randi receives complaints about shotguns. At least once a day, she receives a ticket complaining that shotguns are criminally strong. Randi laughs about it and says: “Every time I see such a ticket, I think: Okay, someone just died.”
Often just nonsense: In addition to the normal complaints, the team receives many insults as well. Or people just type random letters and send it anyway. Regarding the insults, Randi says: “I wish they would just tell us what their problem is instead of insulting us. Because we really want to help.”
