In Fortnite: Battle Royale, there is an interesting new concept for the challenges in Season 7. You must compete for successes with the balloons and fireworks in the tasks. Not all players appreciate this.
This is what the balloons and fireworks are about: Usually, the weekly tasks in Fortnite are permanently available. So any player can collect the same Frost Gnome in a match, for example. The gnome does not disappear if another player has already picked it up.
However, with the challenge involving the fireworks from week 4 and the balloons from week 9, it is different: If a player has already used the item in the match, it is gone for all other players, and you search in vain for it in that round.
If you also want it, you have to be the first to reach and use the object in a new round.
More competition in the challenges
What is the effect of this new regulation? Since only one of the 100 players in a round can solve the challenge, the tasks have become much more exciting and correspond to the battle royale ideal of “There can only be one”.
Especially at the beginning of each challenge, the locations of the respective items are fiercely contested, and players blow each other away in droves. Experience shows that this calms down over the days, but a certain thrill remains.
How do the fans react to this concept? However, the issue with the one-time items is not well received by many fans. During the discussion about the balloons and their locations on Reddit, many players reacted with anger and frustration at the fact that the balloons can only be popped once each.
Many players just want to quickly complete the tasks to earn bonuses like the Snowfall Bonus Skin or Battle Pass goodies.
Many fans probably don’t have much desire for exciting fights over the challenge objects. It remains to be seen whether Epic will continue this concept or focus more on simple and often insignificant tasks in the future.
What is your opinion on the topic? Do you find it exciting or annoying when challenge objects are usable only once per match?
