Apparently, Fortnite is planning to release the “Dragon Shotgun,” another new shotgun. The weapon is supposed to be part of Season 3, as data miners show. But how strong will it be?
What’s new? In Season 3 of Chapter 2 in Fortnite, some new weapons have already been released. This includes the strange chargeable shotgun.
However, it seems that Fortnite wants to release even more weapons this season. And the fact that there was already a shotgun doesn’t seem to bother anyone. Data miner Hypex found another shotgun in the Fortnite code. This one has the codename “Dragon.”
How strong is the Dragon shotgun?
Here are the stats: In the code, the shotgun already has values for damage, magazine size, and other details for combat. Please note that these may change before the release and are not set in stone.
So far, the new shotgun model exists in two rarities: Epic and Legendary. The stats come from data miner Hypex (via Twitter).
| Epic | Legendary | |
| Body Damage | 130, 90, 70 | 140, 90, 70 |
| Headshot Damage | 166, 108, 86 | 175, 114, 88 |
| Damage to Structures | 60, 60, 60 | 70, 70, 70 |
| Magazine Size | 4 | 4 |
| Reload Time | 4.275 sec. | 4.05 sec. |
| Equip Time | 1 sec. | 1 sec. |
| Recoil | 4.75 | 4.5 |
| Ammunition Cost | 4 | 4 |
| Spread | 0.8 | 0.8 |
What’s special? As Hypex points out, the weapon uses 4 shots per shot but can only fit 4 shots in the magazine. After one shot, you’ll need to reload.
The data miner also says that when reloading, all 4 bullets are loaded at once, rather than replenishing them one by one.
If you stand close to a player with the legendary variant, you’ll deal 140 damage on a body hit. With close-range hits to the head, you’ll even deal 175 damage.
After firing a shot, it takes a full 4 seconds to reload the gun. So you should have cover nearby or be able to switch to another weapon.
Players speculate that this might be the “Dragon’s Might” weapon from the Save the World mode. As Twitter user @ZRKGlitcher points out, this weapon fires a charge of multiple firework shots that then deal fire damage.
When will the weapon be released? A release date for the Dragon shotgun is still unclear. “It definitely won’t be out in the next 2-3 months,” explains data miner Hypex. That would be similar to the charged shotgun, which was released in June but was leaked by him back in April .
New in Fortnite are also the firefly grenades. They are special because you have to find the fireflies during a match. When you use them, you can ignite objects and gain a significant advantage in combat.
