Fortnite will soon have a live event, but not just any event. It is set to be the longest event in the history of the BR shooter. Why the event lasts 40 minutes and what you can expect will be revealed here.
How long does Chapter 3’s live event last? The live event of Season 4 Chapter 3 starts on December 3rd at 10:00 PM German time. Players can enter the matchmaking 30 minutes before the event starts. This way, you can secure a spot and form special teams with fellow players.
The event will then continue until 10:40 PM and conclude Chapter 3. You will be in the live event for a total of 40 minutes and experience things that herald the new chapter. Live events from Epic Games usually last a maximum of 20 minutes, so what lies behind this potentially largest event? We will show you.

What happens in Fortnite? In Fortnite, the event “Shattered” begins on December 3rd and ends the shortest chapter in the history of Battle Royals. The island is slowly being consumed by the chrome of the Herald over four seasons, and tornadoes will finish off the residents. As always, chaos is at the forefront before the end of a chapter, as also suggested by the event image from Epic Games.
The map is being ravaged by countless tornadoes that even tear whole pieces from the island. You can even see parts of the amusement park from Season 3. It’s clear that the island won’t survive the event. So it is conceivable that you will experience the live event through cutscenes and playable elements.
Epic Games has used this in the past to bring the story closer to the players. Moreover, there is a greater power behind the Herald, namely the “Nothing.” It’s very likely that the developers have much to show, in order to make the transition to a new map plausible.
Even at the end of Chapter 2, after an alien invasion, the map was simply turned upside down, but this time the situation is more complicated and may require more time for players to grasp the connections. Therefore, 40 minutes might not be so long.
Why does Chapter 3 end so early? There could be many reasons. Hypex, a well-known Fortnite leaker, is already listing all the possible innovations for Chapter 4. The following could await you:
- Creative Mode 2.0
- New type of cosmetic items (Apparel)
- Flying creatures as vehicles
- First-Person Mode
- Motorcycles
The most important feature is probably Creative Mode 2.0. Epic Games started to expand and improve this with Chapter 2, but it did not manage to complete it. However, as we know Epic, each chapter begins with large expansions and new game features for the BR shooter.
In Chapter 2, it was swimming and fishing, in Chapter 3 it was sprinting and especially parkour. With Chapter 4, Creative Mode 2.0 and First-Person Mode could be the core features that players will encounter.
Such massive innovations have never been implemented in the middle of a chapter. It’s very likely that Epic Games has many innovations already finished, but cannot wait six more seasons to release them. Chapter 3 may thus have served as a so-called filler to bridge the time until the team finishes the projects.
