Recently, the first wave of invitations for the mobile version of Fortnite: Battle Royale was sent out. Are you among the lucky ones who can now play Fortnite on their smartphone or tablet?
Recently, the first players on Apple devices can try out Fortnite’s Battle Royale variant. Epic has sent out the first wave of invitations. However, it is not known how large the group of invitees is. The first players are already sharing their experiences on Reddit.
When the next wave will come is still unclear. Epic once again points out that the mobile version is in an early stage. A lot can still change.
First impressions of the mobile version are mixed
Anyone who wants to install Fortnite: Battle Royale on their smartphone or tablet needs to download 2GB of data.
According to initial reports, Fortnite looks fantastic on smartphones – a player on Reddit called it the best-looking mobile game of all time.

The controls, however, are perceived as clunky and sluggish – an aspect that many players had feared. In response to the corresponding comment on the Fortnite: Battle Royale subreddit, Epic immediately replied and confirmed that they are aware of this issue and will continue to work on it.
Aiming also seems not to be fully refined yet – according to one player, it seems that an invisible grid influences aiming, within which the crosshair moves.
In the main game on consoles and PC, players only pick up resources, traps, and ammunition, while in the mobile version, everything is picked up automatically. However, this can lead to not always picking up the item you want. If you want a specific item, you have to select it by touch.

How does the building mode work in the mobile version?
The building mode is a core element of Fortnite: Battle Royale – many players had feared beforehand that operating the building mode on smartphones would be nearly impossible.
Well, according to initial opinions, the building mode works. However, one Redditor admits that there is quite a large learning curve. The controls are not complicated but take time. This should become easier with increasing experience.

Epic will send out more invitations in the next days and weeks. Each invitation should also come with codes that can be given to friends. These are not available for the first wave yet but are expected to be sent out soon!
