Developer Epic has softened their stance regarding Fortnite. After continuous complaints, they are completely and immediately removing the “Infinity Blade” sword from the game. Fans are celebrating this decision.
This is what happened: Just a few minutes ago, Epic announced that they have now completely removed the sword from Fortnite.
Epic says: Sorry, we messed up
This is what Epic says: Epic apologizes for the mistake. The Infinity Blade was way too strong. And there were no good counter-options for it.
The weapon has now been removed from the game and they will review the approach to the new mythical weapons.
Originally, Epic planned to bring more overpowered and special weapons like the sword to Fortnite. Apparently, those plans are now on hold.
Epic thanks the players for pointing out the mistakes.
This is how fans are reacting: Within just a few minutes, the tweet received over 9490 likes and is spreading around the world.
16 minutes later, the thread stands at over 28,000 likes.
Actually, the weapon was supposed to stay
Here’s the background: This is an astonishing development. Just last night, Epic had announced, that they would only slightly nerf the sword. In the next update 7.1, it should no longer be possible to build structures or harvest resources while carrying the powerful sword.
However, the decision faced strong rejection from the players and especially from the pros. They demanded that Epic either completely remove the sword from Fortnite or put it in its own Limited Time Mode.
Apparently, the protest was so significant that Epic has now given in to it.
This is what’s behind it: The “Infinity Blade” drastically changes Fortnite. The weapon can only be found once per match, but grants the player who carries it superhuman abilities.
Apparently, the sword was simply too much of a break from the original Fortnite that many have been playing for months. Especially because the sword was active in every mode of Fortnite and attracted a lot of attention, players took to the barricades.
