The update 17.10 for Fortnite is just a hotfix, but it still brings some new features to the game. These include the new alien nanites, which will be useful in combat. Additionally, there is a new mythical weapon and changes to some locations on the map. MeinMMO summarizes the new features for you.
What exactly is included in the update? The biggest new feature of update 17.10 is the alien nanites. With them, you can upgrade and transform your weapons. You can also actively use them in combat, allowing you to develop new strategies.
In addition to the nanites, Zyg and Choppy’s new mythical Ray Gun enters the game. Also fitting the alien theme, some POIs like Holly Hedges or Believer Beach will be revamped and altered with the update.
We will show you how the alien nanites work and introduce the other new features.
Alien nanites will be useful to you in combat
How do the new alien nanites work? The new item can primarily be used in two ways:
You can use nanites as upgrades for your weapons from Rare level or higher, transforming these weapons into the Pulse Rifle, the Kymera Ray Gun, or the Rail Gun. Here you can find all new bosses and the mythical Pulse Rifle in the usual way.
The weapon you receive depends on which weapon type you equip with the nanites. This works with assault rifles, submachine guns, and sniper rifles.
You can also use alien nanites as a tactical weapon. When you throw the item, a kind of force field is created at the place where it lands. In this force field, gravity is slowed down, and opponents also take damage. Players leaving the force field temporarily take no fall damage.
You can see what this looks like in action:
Where can you find alien nanites? You can find the new item in regular chests, or you can collect it as ground loot. However, they have an increased spawn rate near the mother ship. In competitive mode, nanites are disabled.
New mythical weapon – Zyg and Choppy’s Ray Gun
What kind of weapon is this? This is a stronger variant of the Kymera Gun, and it fires a powerful laser beam that deals significant damage.
Where can you find the weapon? Go to Hydro16. There you will find the boss in the building that you need to defeat for this weapon. But be careful, as he can take a lot of damage and uses the laser weapon against you.

Holly Hedges becomes Holly Hatchery
What changes on the map? The biggest change has been made at Holly Hedges. The POI has been overrun by aliens. There are now heaps of parasites. The once-friendly village has turned into a full-blown alien village.
There are also changes at Believer Beach. The party there is apparently over, and only the remnants of the decorations are left. The map seems to be increasingly affected by the attacking aliens. It remains to be seen what will happen in the next major update.
When is the next update for Fortnite coming? So far, July 13 has been discussed as the release for 17.20. Some assumed that the patch was already released on July 6. However, that was update 17.10 and the hotfix. The next major update is still to come.
What can we expect? So far, three new features are known. There will be a skin for LeBron James, and new POIs will be added to the game. In the west of the island, there are expected to be further problems with the aliens. Here’s the overview: Everything we know about the new Fortnite update 17.20
