The Port-a-Fort is the new hit in Fortnite: Battle Royale and a perfect item for defense, right? In fact, there is much more you can do with the Port-a-Fort, as the following videos show.
Many players feared that the Port-a-Fort might be too powerful – after all, it provides an all-round protection against enemies with the press of a button – high ground included. It’s not that simple, though.
The Port-a-Fort has two disadvantages in Fortnite:
- After all, the fort is not indestructible: The fort is made of metal, which makes it vulnerable after construction starts. Metal takes a while in Fortnite to reach maximum hit points and be stable.
- The Port-a-Fort is also very rare. However, those lucky enough to find one should take it with them – it is suitable for many tactical tricks and play variations.
How to use the Port-a-Fort in Fortnite
Let’s start with the standard tactic. You are being shot at and throw a Port-a-Fort in front of you to be protected. So far, so normal:

The Port-a-Fort is extremely handy. With tires on the ground, you can land on your fort, and a door is automatically constructed as well. From above, you have a good view, and thanks to the sloped design, you are well protected.
The well-known streamer Ninja has also found a good use case for the Port-a-Fort – including a preceding rocket ride:
The Port-a-Fort is also great for trapping opponents. While there is a door at the base of the tower, this can still become a deadly trap in a hectic situation, as the following video vividly illustrates:

For many players, the best use for a Port-a-Fort is to negate fall damage. Thrown at the right moment, you can use the tires on the ground to cushion your fall, as you can see in the following video:
