In Season 7, Chapter 2 of Fortnite, you can find cosmic chests on the map. What they are useful for and where to find them, you can learn here.
These are cosmic chests: Aliens are the big thing in Fortnite right now. UFOs are zipping across the map, aliens are part of the new battle pass skins, and crazy laser weapons like the mythical pulse rifle are available too.
But that’s not all. With the alien invasion came a new type of chest. The “cosmic chests” can be found during your matches on the changed map of Season 7. They are accompanied by a light glow and are encased in a locked crystal.
In the boxes, you can find good weapons among other things. However, they are not as easy to open as the normal chests. You can learn how cosmic chests work in our guide.
What cosmic chests bring and how to open them
This is special about cosmic chests: To open a cosmic chest, you need to utilize your entire team. You can find them in duo, trio, or squad modes.
If you have one of the chests in front of you, the crystal will start to highlight weak points. You need to hit these in turns with your harvesting tool. Repeat this several times, and the chest will open after a few hits.
This is what you can find in cosmic chests: In the chest, you typically find enough weapons for an entire team. They are suitable when you need several good weapons at once.
They can contain different types of weapons, which are equipped with a high rarity. From shotguns to assault rifles, you can secure good weapons for your team here. Ammunition, potions, and medkits can also be found inside.

Where can I find cosmic chests? Generally, the chests can spawn at different locations on the map, even in open terrain. According to data miner “Hypex”, they primarily appear during the first 3 zones of a match (via Twitter / Hypex).
Players have already found chests in several locations. They appear, for example, in front of the gates of Steamy Stacks, west of Misty Meadows, or in the area of Pleasant Park. However, this can vary from match to match.
How do I find cosmic chests? One advantage of cosmic chests is that they are marked on the HUD when you are near them. For example, if you are currently fighting through a research station, and a cosmic chest appears in the vicinity, you will learn this through a marker. You just need to follow it.
Another way is to grab one of the new UFOs with your team and scour the map with it. If you come close to a cosmic chest, it will be marked. They are also easy to spot from the air when they spawn in open terrain.
