Season 5 – More than just a few new locations: Season 5 has completely changed the map in Fortnite with several locations disappearing while entirely new biomes and points of interest have been introduced. Not only explorers are happy about this. The new locations, such as Paradise Palms, Lazy Links, or the Viking ship, bring new tactics into the game. And then there are the rifts and the off-road vehicles.
Fortnite should feel noticeably different to play thanks to these changes in Season 5.
The biggest game changers in Season 5
In the following paragraphs, we will introduce you to the most significant changes from Season 5 that are likely to have a lasting impact on the game. Whether the new locations encourage new tactics or the items provide more movement in the game.
Less camping: Overall, gameplay in Season 5 is more focused on pace and dynamism. If you just stubbornly build your little tower and wait inside, you will have far fewer chances of success in the new season than in the previous seasons.
The moving storm!
Storms are moving: A small but significant change in the endgame concerns storm circles 7, 8, and 9. They are no longer static and shrink. Rather, they shrink and move at the same time!
Endgame fortifications are less valuable: It’s no longer enough to simply build a huge fortress in the presumed center and hunker down. The endgame is likely to lean more towards run-and-gun than sniping and rocket fire.
The off-road vehicles
At the locations Paradise Palms and Lazy Links, you will find some of the new vehicles. A whole squad of four can now speed around quickly. Even power slides are possible. The roof serves as a trampoline for daring aerial attacks, and you can even bounce on them.
More speed, more fun! With the vehicles, you are on the move quickly, which demands dynamic gameplay. And then the vehicle simply invites you to mess around. More fun and less tryhard hardcore action is good for a competitive battle royale game, too.
The rifts
Another counter against fortifications: The new rifts in the game world provide another counter against the trend towards mega-fortifications. Previously, you either had to build your own fort, randomly have a trampoline, or painstakingly break down the castle.
The new rifts will instantly beam you back up into the sky. From there, you can launch unexpected surprise attacks on well-fortified opponents. Alternatively, the rifts are a super method to quickly reorient.
Free pass back into action: You can now land in remote places like Paradise Palms or Junk Junction, loot comfortably, and still have a chance to quickly get to the storm circle on the other side of the map.
Escape upwards! And there’s nothing cooler than using a rift while fleeing from an enemy, disappearing into the air undetected, and then ambushing the opponents elsewhere!
New locations diversify gameplay
Out with the old, in with the new! Epic has removed the unpopular locations Anarchy Acres and Moisty Mire and replaced them with new POIs Paradise Palms and Lazy Links. This was a good idea because the new locations offer enormous loot potential and are structured so that you can speed around well with the new off-road vehicles in both areas. You can quickly leave again when the storm comes.
Viking loot in abundance! And then there’s the nameless Viking ship near Greasy Grove. There’s a massive amount of loot to be found in tight quarters. Establish yourselves there and then continue on with your gear to Tilted Towers or Greasy Grove and clean up there.
The forest of death! If you prefer thrilling hunts in the woods, you can visit the new Dusty Divot. A dense forest has formed there, entwining the remains of the research base. Ideal for intense battles among trees and ruins.
