Actually, the new update 5.40 for Fortnite was supposed to be available today, Wednesday. However, this and the new High Stakes event will unfortunately not happen. Epic is postponing the update, which also affects the weekly challenges of week 9.
Epic is struggling with bugs: As the Fortnite developer recently announced, the update 5.40 is being postponed due to a critical issue identified with controllers. Which controllers are affected and what the issues look like in detail is currently unknown.
What does this mean for update 5.40? The update will not be rolled out until Thursday, September 6th. The postponement of the update also coincides with the High Stakes event, which will also be unlocked on Thursday.
The weekly challenges are also being postponed: Since the schedule has now been pushed back by one day overall, the weekly challenges for week 9 will also be moved back by one day to Friday, September 7th.
So, anyone who wanted to know which reward awaits in the final ninth week for the Road Trip skin will have to wait one more day.

Epic is also working on issues with the Nintendo Switch version: As the developer stated through its in-house bug tool, they are currently working with Nintendo to fix performance issues on the Nintendo Switch.
Specifically, landing in Tilted Towers is turning into pure luck on Nintendo’s console. Textures are not loading, leaving you helpless against enemies. Epic plans to deliver a corresponding update with version 5.40.
What do you think about this? Are you looking forward to the new High Stakes mode?
