Just one day after release, Epic Games broke the record for the most players online at the same time, with up to 6 million fans. Yesterday it finally happened, and Fortnite celebrated on Twitter a new record for the most players in a single day.
44.7 million players from all corners of the world have gathered in Fortnite to play and even reached a total playtime of 102 million hours (via x.com).

What’s happening in Fortnite right now? Fortnite has embarked on a new experiment with the release of Chapter 4 Season 5. Instead of introducing new map changes with the map from Chapter 4, players have been sent back in time – It went back to the map from Chapter 1, which was created in 2017.
Since the event of the black hole, fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of the old map, but Epic Games continued to release new maps depending on which chapter was added. Many old fans who were there at the beginning of Fortnite disappeared from the scene.
Fortnite was no longer the game they once knew, but with the release of “Fortnite: OG,” Epic Games was able to win back its players, even if only for a short moment. The game has been so overwhelmed since the release that you get sent to a short queue every time you log in before you can play.
How long will Fortnite: OG last? Although the map from Chapter 1 with its unique meta receives a lot of positive responses and a large number of players, it is only temporary. A season usually lasts about 3 months, but Season: OG is supposed to end already on December 2nd. That’s in less than a month.
Many fans wish that the OG map of Fortnite should be permanently implemented and offered as its own mode. This way, Epic can continue to benefit from the high player numbers, as many prefer to play on the old map, according to the players. Whether Epic Games will actually do this remains to be seen.
The plan doesn’t sound too far-fetched, but with a new big mode, players might expect longer waiting times in matchmaking. It remains to be seen what the developers have planned for the future.
