In Fortnite: Battle Royale, players have now found an excavation site. It was blocked by large rocks that players had to destroy as a community. This secret was hidden behind it.
What is new on the map? On Thursday, March 28, players discovered a special location on the Fortnite: Battle Royale map. It is a fenced-off excavation site with excavators, floodlights, and portable toilets.
Where is the excavation site? It is located near Paradise Palms, close to the border of the desert biome and grass biome between Paradise Palms and Salty Springs in grid square H7.
What was the new location like? When players first found the excavation site, there was a covered hole with destroyable rocks, each having 500,000,000 health points. Players quickly discovered that they could damage the rocks with their harvesting tools.
Now the goal was to destroy the rocks as a community. Everyone wanted to know what was hidden behind them.
A similar event happened in Season 7 of Fortnite, when players were supposed to hit a huge ice block together. Back then, it hid a hatch to a bunker.
What was hidden behind the rocks: It took only a few hours for players to deal so much damage to the individual rocks that they were completely destroyed. Underneath, they found a skeleton with a plush teddy bear. That was just one of the discoveries.
At the very bottom of the pit, Fortnite hid a geyser, which only came to light at the end. Geysers have been a part of Fortnite since Season 8.
In the Reddit video by user PokemonLegacy6, you can see what it looked like when the last rock was destroyed, revealing the geyser.
What is the secret about? Players are now wondering what lies behind the excavation site and the geyser. It is unclear what Fortnite wants to communicate to the players. Some are now hoping for a deeper story that has now started with these rocks in Season 8.
“We didn’t know at first [what we were digging for]. I initially thought there was a cave. But I suspect it’s some kind of storytelling that is developing right now,” writes user PokemonLegacy6. Another user responds, “Considering how quickly it was done, I expect another [digging task] with a bigger reward and A LOT MORE HEALTH POINTS.”
