In Fortnite, players suddenly received erroneous ban messages due to a feature that actually belongs to the game. Now, a few of those affected are being compensated by Epic.
What happened? Players who wanted to watch their friends during a solo match suddenly received ban messages. They were warned for allegedly breaking the “teaming” rule.
However, this was not the case, as the players had done nothing wrong. They were surprised when the warning appeared on their screen.
A few affected players have now been compensated
How are the players being compensated? Epic is reportedly giving the affected players V-Bucks as an apology. Players report that they have received 1,000 V-Bucks credited to their accounts.
Player Slqthy posted a picture showing how the V-Bucks were received in the game.
Next to it, there is a message from Epic saying: “We mistakenly warned your account. We apologize, and we will transfer 1,000 V-Bucks to your account as an apology for our error.”
Why might Epic give the affected players V-Bucks?
Why are the players receiving compensation now? The error was clearly on Epic’s part and not the players. They only used the spectator feature, which was introduced by Epic.
However, the game counted the viewing as teaming and sent out these erroneous messages. The players were understandably shocked because they thought their account would be banned.
Epic seems to want to apologize for the shock to the players who received the false warnings. Therefore, they are giving them V-Bucks, which they can use to purchase an item from the item shop.
So far, not all affected players have received compensation. It might take a while until they receive the V-Bucks. However, some players report that they have already received the compensation for it.
Epic Games is known for admitting their mistakes and is quite generous when they want to apologize to the affected players.
For an erroneous ban, there could even be up to 2,000 V-Bucks as compensation.
What do you think about this apology from Epic? Is it justified?
