In Fortnite: Battle Royale comes with the next patch a new weapon, the Proximity Grenade Launcher. There are now also leaks of the values, but players are not very excited.
What is the new weapon? The Proximity Grenade Launcher is a new weapon that is supposed to appear in Fortnite soon. Dataminers have already found out what values this weapon will have:
- Rarity: Epic and Legendary
- Damage: 67/70
- Magazine: 2
- Fire Rate: 0.65
- Reload Time: 2.8
- Range: 788/825
The damage of the weapon actually does not decrease when you are further away. It is always the same, regardless of the distance to the target.
It is also suspected that the grenades either explode upon impact or near enemies, which would make cover quite useless.
Players do not want another explosive weapon
This is how the community reacts: On Reddit, reactions to the new weapon were rather subdued. Players are currently concerned about the meta, which according to some fans is developing again into a close-combat and “spray” meta.
So a playstyle in which you spray as many shots as possible at close range (spray). Therefore, the comments on Reddit are quite negative:
- “I can already smell the salt.”
- “I can see ahead how everyone will be outraged about how OP this weapon will be and that Epic is once again bringing an explosive weapon instead of fixing the messed-up loot pool!”
Furthermore, many players do not need another explosive weapon and are now afraid that the grenade launcher will be removed from the game. The new grenade launcher could render it obsolete since the new weapon shoots faster and may require less skill to use. The grenades from the regular launcher only explode after some time.
- “The grenade launcher is already practically redundant. Hardly anyone uses it anymore.”
Other players hope that the new grenade launcher will kick the Boom Bow out of the game. It is also not particularly popular with players, and very few enjoy using it.
- “I hope it takes out the Boom Bow, but I have my doubts.”
- “Hopefully it replaces the Boom Bow, we have enough explosive weapons in the game!”
When will the Proximity Grenade Launcher be released? The new weapon is expected to be added to the game in the next patch. This will likely be the case by June 13, 2019.
