Halloween is just around the corner in Fortnite. When will the Fortnitemares 2020 finally start? We will show you what leaks there are and what we already know about the event.
Update October 21: Update 14.40 has been applied and has started the Fortnitemares, which will be active until November 3. More information about the Halloween event can be found in the German patch notes.
What are the Fortnitemares? Every year there is a Halloween event in Fortnite. This event is called Fortnitemares and usually includes:
- Spooky decorations on the map
- Halloween-themed skins
- Fortnitemares challenges with unlockable rewards
- Monsters roaming the map
Fortnitemares 2020 – When is it finally time?
When does the Halloween event in Fortnite start? So far, it is still not known when the Fortnitemares will exactly start this year. Epic has always announced the event beforehand.
The Fortnitemares 2019 started on October 29 back then. So there is still at least a week to go, should it proceed similarly this year. Before the event starts, there is usually also an update that prepares the map for the spooky atmosphere.
How long will the event last? Unfortunately, it is still not clear how long the Fortnitemares will be available.
Based on past Fortnitemares, one could estimate the duration to be around 2 weeks. The Halloween event was usually active for that long.
What can we expect in the Halloween event?
What is known about suitable skins for the event? So far, several Halloween cosmetics have been added to the game. Even entire skin packs are currently available in the item shop.
A further Halloween skin pack that has already been leaked by dataminers is now also available for 2,800 V-Bucks. It includes 3 skins, 3 pickaxes, and 3 back accessories.
Epic always brings cool skins for Halloween that are sometimes not only scary because of their appearance. With the Bone-Shali, the story behind it was almost scarier than its appearance.
Are there new scary items? Unfortunately, Epic has not yet provided any hints as to whether there will be new weapons or items for the Halloween event. However, dataminers have found some instant items in the data that could possibly be active during Halloween (via Twitter).
An old weapon that can be found in Fortnite every year during Halloween will likely return. The pumpkin rocket launcher, which has been known since the first Halloween event.
Another feature known from the Fortnitemares are the monsters. These have always been brought to the Fortnite map for Halloween. In a special mode of the Fortnitemares 2019, players had to not only fight against monsters but also defeat the Storm King. Such a limited mode could be expected this year as well.
