In Fortnite: Battle Royale, a lot has happened again. Last weekend, the flying island returned to its original location and opened a portal in the sky. However, some fans seem to be getting bored.
What has happened? In the week before the weekend of October 20th to 21st, 2018, suddenly the runes on the Fortnite map began to float and approached the flying island, which was centrally located on the map.
Runes fall to the ground: The runes floated in a circle around the island until they suddenly all fell to the ground.
Island returns to the lake: After the runes had fallen, the island floated back over the bottomless pit at Leaky Lake, the lake formerly known as Loot Lake in the northwest.
Island opens strange portal in the sky
The island is now floating back at its original location, but the building on it is now almost completely permeated by purple cube matter. Additionally, the cube underneath the island is pulsating wildly and sending a purplish beam of light directly into the sky.
Is the next big map change coming? At a high altitude, a kind of portal in the sky formed at the end point of the beam. According to a data leak, it is growing larger regularly and will reach a total of 6 stages of growth.
It seems that the cube has arranged for the runes to draw energy from the surroundings, and it has now “harvested” this energy. Therefore, it now has the power to open the portal.
Theories and bored fans
What happens next? As always, fans are eagerly speculating about what will happen next:
- The map could be completely sucked into a parallel dimension, which fans have been speculating about since the end of Season 5.
- The volcano theory might still hold true, and Loot Lake could still become a large volcano.
- New locations could emerge from the portal, leading to a major Halloween event next week.
- Some fans even speculate that Thanos might come out of the portal and reintroduce the previously unique Infinity Gauntlet mode.
Slowly getting bored: However, the overarching plot of Fortnite is slowly getting on many players’ nerves. They are tired of watching some strange things for seven weeks, which then cause even stranger things to happen.
The cube and its bizarre actions are simply too abstract and vague for many. The comet and the rocket were more concrete and tangible.
Fans making fun of the cube: Thus, fans are slowly poking fun at the plot. Here are some voices from Reddit:
- “Kevin [the cube] is preparing to revisit every old rune. Get ready for an eternity of Kevin rolling around the map!”
- “Hopefully, something better than weird objects flying or rolling around the map will come soon. It’s been 7 weeks waiting for something interesting.”
- “What if a huge tear opens in the sky and things from our earth fall through?” [Referring to the story of Season 5]
- “Maybe a portal opens and the rocket comes out and destroys Kevin?” [Referring to the story of Season 4]
- “Kevin is drawing power for his “Spirit Bomb” technique! Stay tuned for the next episode of Dragon Ball: Fortnite!” [Referencing the frequent filler episodes in the anime Dragon Ball Z]
The latest news continues to take steam off the kettle. Fortnite Save the World will not be free in 2018:
