With the last content patch to 4.2, a bug seems to have sneaked into Fortnite: Battle Royale. Players are reporting a backpack that predicts the location of the next storm circle. Epic has now announced that the item was due to a bug in the game. That’s a shame.
Epic seems to be developing more and more of a fondness for backpacks. What were cosmetic items starting from Season 3, now take up a slot in the inventory in the current Season 4 and have useful functions.
The most prominent and only example so far: The jetpack. With the jetpack, you can easily overcome large obstacles and surprise your enemies. With the last update, it shows – this is just the beginning. Because accidentally a new item was added, the so-called “Eye of the Storm Tracker.”
What exactly does the Storm Tracker do? This backpack indicates the exact position of the next storm circle before anyone else knows. This idea is not only unusual but also practical. This way, the eye of the storm can be reached before all other players. A well-placed base can mean a significant advantage.
The backpack will display the next storm center with a yellow circle. This is intended to help distinguish the storm circle from the normal one.
The big downside: One slot of your inventory is occupied. So you will have to abuse teammates as pack mules for shield potions and bandages. This naturally assumes that this item will ever be officially released – and that is not guaranteed.

Will the item really come? Epic has not only promptly removed the item again – they also say that it is very possible that the Storm Tracker will never come. That would be a shame, the idea is quite original. However, the mere existence of the backpack proves that Epic has not run out of ideas yet.
