The online shooter Fortnite has become totally insane since Wednesday. A new item is so powerful that model Alissa Violet wins a round, even though she has no Fortnite experience. Help came from top player Tfue. Now Epic has nerfed the turret that makes the madness possible. But is that enough?
What changed with the patch on Thursday? The Update 6.30 on Wednesday created a new, pretty crazy Fortnite. There were three major changes:
- Gliders can no longer be opened again
- The melee damage from pickaxes has been significantly increased
- and the turrets are new.
Especially the turrets have shaped the image of Fortnite in recent days.
What are these turrets? The turrets are stationary traps that you set up and sit in. Then you can shoot like crazy. At least until the weapon overheats. Then it’s over. Unless you have two turrets next to each other, then you can just switch.
These “turrets” are extremely powerful and completely change the balance in Fortnite. A tree falls after 6 shots, an opponent who gets caught in the fire is torn apart.
This is how Epic has already changed the turrets: The turrets are not only too powerful, players also find them too common. Epic has nerfed the turrets three times within two days.
- Right after they went online, Epic already significantly reduced the hit points of the turret itself and the hit points of the turret base
- Shortly thereafter, the drop probability of the turret in the “Food Fight” mode was lowered
- This frequency nerf was then extended to all modes. Now the turret is supposed to appear only half as often as on Thursday.
Clip showing Ninja demonstrates how crazy Fortnite is right now
Fortnite was this insane: An example of how crazy Fortnite has been in recent days is shown in this clip:
Here Ninja, TimTheTatman, and two other players land in Tilted Towers in a squad match.
Immediately after landing, the players hack at each other with pickaxes and TimTheTatman goes down within seconds. While he curses the increased pickaxe damage, he is rescued by Ninja. Ultimately, a crazy battle for turrets breaks out.
TimTheTatman can initially climb onto the turret and shoot wildly, but then dies because another player right next to him has also set up a turret and is using it.
This is what the clip shows: The clip shows how dominant the turrets are already so early in the game. Although turrets are supposed to be legendary items and thus rare, two are already appearing in the early phase of a match.
Here the nerf is supposed to significantly reduce the number of turrets.
Fashion YouTuber wins Fortnite match in turret
This is how a model won a Fortnite round: Even more absurd is the scene with Alissa Violet. She is a YouTuber and a fashion model with over 8.6 million followers on Instagram. She is not exactly known as a gamer.
Violet and other YouTubers interrupted Fortnite star Tfue while he was streaming.
Tfue had created such a superior situation in his match thanks to the turret that he invited Alissa Violet to make the “final” kill in the match.
She then sat in the turret and pressed the trigger while shouting “Bang Bang Bang” to get her first victory. Much to the delight of those present.

This caused quite a stir and was commented on Twitter with “Dude, Alissa Violet just carried Tfue.”
This is what the clip shows: It shows that you really don’t need any skill to take someone out of a superior position, even if the victim has barricaded themselves. The turret cuts through walls and barricades like a knife through butter.
What happens next with the turrets? It will be interesting to see how Epic will continue to respond to the situation. The turrets seem to completely change Fortnite.
It wouldn’t be unthinkable for the turrets to disappear from the game again in one of the next patches.
