Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4 & Xbox One) has received a major change to the map with Update V.2.2.0. Now the developers speak up and reveal what lies behind the new locations.
Update V.2.2.0 of Fortnite is here and has changed quite a lot in Battle Royale mode. There is now a thoroughly revised map with new hotspots full of loot and useful features. But how do you find out what is currently worth it and why?
You can painstakingly go on an exploration tour yourself … or listen to the developers’ hints, who reveal some secrets of the new hotspots here.
Everything that is behind the new map locations in Battle Royale
The major innovation on the Battle Royale map of Fortnite concerns the west side of the map. Until now, there wasn’t much to gain. Therefore, several new locations and hotspots have been established:
- Tilted Towers
- Shifty Shafts
- Snobby Shores
- Junk Junction
Tilted Towers
This new centrally located site was fiercely contested right after launch. Here you will find plenty of weapons in vertical buildings. You can land there and then fight your way down. Or you can hide in a tower and defend yourself against other player fortresses in the neighborhood!
According to the developers, Tilted Towers is supposed to become a western counterpart to the loot castles Pleasant Park or Retail Row. Because of its central location, it is also easy to reach and promises exciting battles at the beginning of the game.
Shifty Shafts
While you fight on high buildings in Tilted Towers, here you go underground. It is a mine shaft full of loot. Since it is underground, you cannot see from a distance who or what is there.
You have to go down into the tunnels and experience exciting battles there. Because at any moment an enemy could sneak up on you from a side tunnel.
Snobby Shores
This is a stuffy suburban settlement on the west coast. Each of the stylish houses is fenced and thus offers its own small battleground for wild clashes.
The settlement is also nicely organized and all properties are lined up. This makes it easy to orient yourself and keep an overview of the fights.
Junk Junction
Since the northwest has so far been the least attractive place on the map, it has now been equipped with the junkyard Junk Junction. There you will find a small maze of stacked junk cars.
However, the stacks are far enough apart so that you can still build something. Additionally, you can climb the stacks without stairs.
Swamps, Fields, and Mountains
Between the hotspots, there are now four different terrain types. Meadows, fields, swamps, and mountains. The meadows are already known, but the other terrain types are new.
They differ in color and in details like other trees. This makes the map graphically more varied. Furthermore, it is easier to recognize a specific area from the air.
