Today, on Tuesday, May 25, all servers on all platforms (PC/Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Android) for the Battle Royale shooter Fortnite will be taken down. The reason for the server downtime is update 16.50, which will be implemented during this time. Find out here what’s included in the new patch.
What is happening today in Fortnite? Patch 16.50 was announced in advance by Fortnite Status on Twitter as usual and will be implemented today (via Twitter).

What’s different now? The highlight of the update was the weapons that returned from the vault. This time, there were 2.
- The dual pistols are back and available in the loot pool
- Additionally, the fan-favorite drum shotgun has been brought back into the game. This weapon was also in the vault until recently.
- In Creative mode, there are now “Extra Large Islands”. They are 16 times larger than the previous islands.
Additionally, there were various bug fixes with version 16.50:
- If you go left in the inventory with the controller, it no longer skips the last weapon slot
- Back bling for the Rachel Roth style can now be equipped
- Newly added friends are no longer incorrectly displayed as offline
- Buildings created by players have fewer graphic effects in PC performance mode

Fortnite servers will be taken down today – When and for how long?
This is the downtime start in the morning: The downtime for patch 16.50 begins today at 10:00 AM local time. At 9:30 AM, you can log in for one last round of Fortnite. After that, the servers will be taken down. The game will then be down for a while.
How long will the maintenance take? As usual, the whole thing should be over by noon.

What new content does update 16.50 bring?
What changes in Battle Royale mode? According to the developers, the following innovations will be available after the downtime: A new exotic weapon:
- An old fan favorite returning from the vault
- Larger areas in Creative mode
- The new Wild Week on June 3
According to leaker FNAssist, the fan-favorite is the dual pistols.
There will also be various smaller changes, including new skins and bug fixes. This includes a bug that caused certain back bling to disappear or an issue that hid newly added friends. So there are still a few final innovations for Season 6 before it ends.
