The update 16.20 in Fortnite is here and brings 3 new weapons, new equipment for cars, and a map change. MeinMMO shows you in the German patch notes what has changed in Fortnite: Battle Royale.
This is happening in Fortnite: After a long downtime, the update 16.20 has now been applied. This is a patch that brings several changes – some of which were already announced by Epic. We have summarized the most important changes in our own patch notes in German.
2 new bows are coming to Fortnite
What’s new? With update 16.20, 2 new bows are set to be added to the game. Data miners found and leaked the “weapons” in the data before the patch. These two bows are:
- The Grappler Bow
- The Splinter Bow
The data miner HYPEX posted the stats of the two bows on Twitter:
According to data miners, the Grappler Bow will be available for purchase from the NPC Lara Croft. It is still unclear how to obtain the Splinter Bow. It is possible that both can also be crafted just like the Primal Weapons. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more information about the new bows.
New mythical weapon on the map
What’s new? After the patch, you can now find a familiar weapon as a mythical version on the map. “The Recycler” hasn’t been in Fortnite for long, but with patch 16.20 there’s already a mythical variant that is a bit stronger. Like the normal version, you can use the mythical Recycler to “suck up” items and shoot them at your opponents with a trash bomb.
The new “Spire Assassin’s Recycler” can be found, as the name suggests, with the NPC Spire Assassin. However, she is not so easy to find, as she spawns in different locations. But you should pay attention near The Spire, as she often guards the tower there.

New item: Wheels for cars
What’s new? As announced, there is now a change to the vehicles. You can now find wheels on the map that you can mount on your vehicles. The wheels make the cars much more drivable off-road.
You can attach them to your cars by simply equipping them from your inventory and throwing them against the already placed wheels of the vehicle. Once successfully mounted, you will immediately notice the difference. This Twitter clip shows how it works:
Map changes after the patch
What’s different now? If you take a closer look at the map now, you will notice that a location has changed. Behind Holly Hedges, a named location, a new building has been added. The change is not too big, but it still offers a spot where you can land and loot.
Aside from the Landschliff store, you’ll now find a small workshop there with a car inside. So once you’re done looting, you can head straight to the safe zone with the vehicle.
After update 16.20 was applied, there are now several things to explore and try out. So if you embark on an adventure right away, you can quickly gather experience points in your matches. You will need these if you want to unlock the rare skins of Season 6.
