The update 14.40 in Fortnite is here and brings the Fortnitemares 2020 with Midas’ Revenge. It will get spooky on the map and there are new features fitting for Halloween.
This is what’s happening in Fortnite: Today, on October 21, the update 14.40 will be released. This also marks the start of Fortnite Nightmares: Midas’ Revenge, which will take place until November 3. You can expect the return of Midas, new items, and challenges with cool rewards. Epic created a trailer to introduce you to the festivities:
Midas’ Return with Resurrected Henchmen
What’s new? The boss of the agents group from Season 2 – Chapter 2 is back to take revenge. With him are his henchmen, who have now turned into ghosts. They have taken over “The Authority” and are causing chaos there.
This means that you will return as Shadows when you are eliminated in Solo, Duos, or Squads. If you join other Shadows, you can swoop down on the living and achieve a Nightmare Royale victory.
New Halloween Items
What’s new? With the update 14.40, new items have been added, and familiar ones have been brought back from the vault, fitting the spooky theme on the map. The traditional Pumpkin Rocket Launcher is back, and with the Crossbow, which is also not unfamiliar, you can go hunting.
With the new Witch’s Broom, you can now take flight when you find one. It will probably look similar to the emote that was recently available in the Item Shop.
However, the Shadows don’t seem to be entirely evil, as they have brought you a lot of candy for the festivities. These will likely function like instant items that you can consume for health points or shields. These have already been leaked by data miners.
Fortnite: Nightmares – Challenges
What’s new? Until November 3, several challenges await you in the Nightmares, with which you can unlock cool Halloween items. Included are:
- The weapon wrap “Midas’ Shadow”
- The pickaxe “Smash O’-Lantern”
- The back bling “Bobo”
- Some spray designs fitting for the Nightmares
But not only the map will be spookily changed, but you can also dress up fittingly for Halloween. Some Halloween skins have already been available in the Item Shop, but likely more will be added. If you still need V-Bucks for the skins, you can still “return” the NFL skin for “free” if you no longer want it until November 12. By returning it, you will receive 1,500 V-Bucks back and won’t even need to waste a ticket for it.
