The update 13.40 in Fortnite is now here and brings the long-awaited cars, map changes, and some bug fixes. MeinMMO shows you what has changed.
Epic Games has not released the full patch notes for the battle royale mode in Fortnite, but they have provided some information about the cars.
We will show you what the new patch changed in the game.
Driving cars now in the game
What’s new: The update 13.40 finally brought the cars that were seen in the Season 3 trailer. They are now in the game and can be driven. A player has already shared some videos of it on Twitter:
As suspected, the cars need to be fueled once the gas runs out. Epic had already expanded the gas stations in the last update 13.30 and all received an upgrade.
To refuel, simply drive to one of the gas stations, park your vehicle next to the pump, and you can then interact with it.
The new cars have also brought a feature to the game: radio stations. You can now listen to music while traveling in a vehicle. Just turn on the radio and enjoy the music.
For more information on the new vehicles and how they work, you can find it on the official Epic Games site.
Map has likely reached water end stage
What’s now different: Looking at the map now, you can see that the water has completely receded. The island is fully displayed and there are even new roads that are likely meant for driving.
Especially at Slurpy Swamp, you can clearly see that new roads have been added. This makes the map seem larger, as suspected.
Bug fixes
These bugs have been fixed: The update brought new features and fixed some bugs to make playing more enjoyable. These bugs should now be fixed:
- The mouse cursor no longer appears when playing with a controller on PC
- The slow glide when attempting to glide for the 2nd time in a match should have been resolved
- The XP bar should now be displayed correctly in-game
All other bugs that have been fixed or are currently being worked on by Epic can be found on the Fortnite Trello.
New in Save the World
What’s new: In the Save the World mode, there have been some changes, so you can now perform some actions simultaneously such as:
- Open 10 llamas at once, without the respective animation in between
- The number of duplicate weapon schematics and heroes is now displayed by a counter
- Heroes can now level up 10 levels at once
Hero returns: The hero Dennis Jr. returns to the PvE mode. His standard perk is Shredder, and the damage from axes is increased when he uses it.
Dennis Jr. will be available again in the event shop from August 8 at 2:00 AM until September 5.
Weapon returns: With the Wummer weapon, you can rock out and drive away zombies with your bass. Slam the hammer onto the ground to send sound waves and deal damage to your enemies.
The Wummer weapon will be available in the event shop. Make sure to visit between August 8 at 2:00 AM and September 5 to secure the hammer.
The update 13.40 brings some new content and changes, but what about the start of the next season? After all, the highlight of Season 3 has just begun. Data miners have also found hints that the start of Season 4 could be delayed.
