Fortnite’s servers are going down for maintenance. The new update 6.30 brings a fresh item for Fortnite: Battle Royale. Therefore, the servers will go offline on all platforms (PC/Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, iOS, Android). A patch needs to be downloaded.
First major release in weeks: While players had to settle for rather minor changes in the last few weeks (apart from the spectacular live event), Fortnite is expected to shower players with new features today.
Before you can enjoy the many changes in Save the World mode or the new turret in the Battle Royale part, you will have to endure maintenance work. When does the downtime start? When can you log back in? We have all the information for you!
Fortnite’s Servers Go Offline
When does the server downtime start? Epic has postponed the start time for the server to go down. Instead of 10 AM, the servers will go offline today at 11 AM German time.
This means matchmaking will be disabled around 10:30 AM. From that point on, you will no longer be able to start new games. At 11 AM the servers will then be unreachable.

When will Fortnite’s servers be back online?
When will the servers reopen? Due to the later start of the maintenance and the fact that this is a major release, we could expect longer maintenance work. However, you should be able to log in again by early afternoon (between 1 PM and 3 PM).
As soon as the servers are back online, you will find out here on MeinMMO. Here you will also find the patch notes, which will be published promptly at the start of the downtime.
What Battle Royale players can expect with update 6.30: In competitive multiplayer mode, players can look forward to a new toy after the introduction of the AK-47 assault rifle last week: the turret!
This will likely be permanently mounted and needs to be operated directly by a player. We will likely experience how the new gadget will influence game balance shortly after the release.
Removal of the glide opening: Additionally, Epic has completed tests with the glider mechanic, which allowed you to reopen the glider at a certain height. With update 6.30, this system will be removed from all game modes. Exceptions are Playground and special limited-time modes (such as Height Rush or Disco Domination).
Is the Fast Food War starting today? Dataminers have already discovered changes to the Fortnite: Battle Royale map, showing a new location. According to these dataminers, this place will revolve around burgers, is a war between burger flippers and pizza bakers coming our way?
The fact that Epic is bringing both the pizza and burger skins to the shop today is surely just a coincidence, right?
Whether Epic will bring a fix for the recently discovered exploit that allows you to shoot much more accurately is still unknown.
What Save the World players can expect with update 6.30: That the PvE part will no longer be free in 2018 has been widely known. Epic wants to initiate renovation measures first and revise game systems.
With today’s update, the first step is being taken! Because the menus and also some progression systems will be fundamentally reworked today. Among other things, the research tree will be much clearer. These and other changes in PvE of Fortnite should greatly improve the gaming experience.
Turrets also in Save the World: As Epic also announced, PvE players will also get to enjoy the turret. However, this will not happen today, but in a future update.
