Today, on 18.12., the Fortnite servers will be taken down across all platforms (PC/Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, iOS, Android) to roll out a new update with version 11.31.
What is happening today in Fortnite? Once again, a new update is coming today. It is certain that the Winterfest will go live after the update. Originally, this event was supposed to start yesterday, on 17.12., but the reasons for the delay are unclear.
Update 13:15: The update 11.31 is now available in the game. You can see what has changed in the German patch notes.
Otherwise, there should be the usual bug fixes that come with every patch (and potential new bugs). However, before you can dive into the Christmas wonderland, you must undergo maintenance.
Fortnite servers going down – When and for how long?
When does the downtime start? At 09:30 AM German time, you will be able to join a lobby for the last time. The servers will be completely taken offline at 10 AM German time.
How long will the maintenance last? Typically, Epic is done in a few hours. However, the update this week brings new features and content. Therefore, the maintenance might take longer than usual.

What new content will update 11.31 bring?
What’s new in Battle Royale mode: The competitive player base can look forward to the Christmas event “Winterfest”. New challenges will come, new skins, and the lobby will be festively decorated. Additionally, weapons that fit the seasonal theme or new game modes might also come.
What the update brings for Save the World: Some seasonal heroes and items were already introduced last week. What Epic plans for this week is still unclear, but it will likely also revolve around Winterfest.
