Anyone waiting for patch notes for a new update in Fortnite today was disappointed. However, Epic is bringing something new to the game: the harpoon pistol.
What is new? If you played a round this afternoon, you might have found the new weapon. Without much announcement and very quietly, Epic has actually inserted the harpoon pistol.
This is especially surprising because many players expected patch notes with a new update. But that didn’t happen. Epic seems to be taking a new direction here.
Harpoon Pistol in Fortnite – What can it do?
This is the new weapon: This weapon has several functions. It can:
- Be used for fishing
- Deal 75 damage to opponents
- Pull enemies toward the player
So if you were hit by a weapon and suddenly get pulled through the air, then that was the new harpoon pistol.
The weapon has 10 shots and can be found as a blue item. It’s not extremely rare, so you have a good chance of finding the new item.
How is the weapon received by players? The harpoon pistol doesn’t seem to have to face much criticism. It is seen positively that you can also fish with it and don’t have to carry a fishing rod separately. This way, you have a solid weapon and also the fishing rod, but only in one inventory slot.

This is what can be said about the update: Since Chapter 2, Epic has been taking a different approach to updates. There are no more proper patch notes, just a few texts and images about the new features.
