Fortnite (PC, PS4, iOS & Xbox One) is still not available on Android phones. However, an invitation event for Fortnite on Android devices is reportedly imminent. Invitations are being sent out via email. What is this all about?
What it’s about: Fortnite was released for Apple’s iOS mobile devices in early 2018. Android users were left out. Developer Epic promised to release the Android version in the coming months.
It is simply harder to optimize the game for dozens of potential Android devices, hence the delay. However, recently invitations for the beta test of the Android version reportedly reached some players and YouTubers. Is it finally time?
The Android version is a scam!
Unfortunately, the invitation emails are scams, meaning fraudulent schemes by deceitful internet scoundrels. So anyone who clicks on the supposed invitation will receive a lot of stress instead of great Fortnite fun on Android smartphones. Their data is then transmitted to devious scammers as part of a phishing scheme.
Can this be proven? Epic Games has also gotten involved. A PR employee has already denied all rumors about an Android version on Twitter. There are simply no invitations for an Android beta.
All the sent emails are attempts at fraud. This can already be seen from the fact that the sender address does not use any of the usual official Epic domains “epicgames.com” or “fortnite.com”.
Scams have a tradition with Fortnite
The current scheme with the Android betas is just the latest Fortnite scam. Since the game is incredibly popular and especially appeals to young people, many scammers are trying their luck.
There are also no free V-Bucks! So there have already been several fake websites promising an Android beta upon registration. Similarly, gullible players are often falling for “Free V-Bucks” that someone supposedly offers.
Moreover, various YouTubers and streamers are enhancing their viewer numbers by spreading and propagating such rumors as the “Android beta”.
