In Fortnite, the motorboats have been temporarily disabled in all modes. The reason for this could be a fish glitch that allowed players to gain an unfair advantage to win.
This is the situation: Fortnite Status announced on Twitter on August 3rd that they have disabled the motorboats in all game modes. There have been issues that need a fix.
They are looking into it, but it is still unclear when the motorboats will be reactivated.
Under the tweet, some players pointed out a glitch that was discovered recently. They suspect that this is why the motorboats had to be disabled.
Fish glitch makes players immortal
What kind of exploit is this? Players had found a way to spawn unlimited healing items like floppers. This allowed them to heal in the storm, which takes away their health points, until the match is over.
For this, they only needed a motorboat, a healing item, and a weapon. With the right timing, they could rack up thousands of health points. If they then eliminated themselves and were retrieved by a teammate with a reboot van back into the match, the floppers would appear.
A similar exploit occurred in Season 10, where players could recharge unlimited shields.
The YouTuber Glitch King, who has uncovered several glitches in Fortnite, demonstrated this unfair fish exploit and how it works:

Although Fortnite Status did not provide a proper reason why the motorboats were disabled, the video from Glitch King, uploaded on August 2nd, has 190,000 views and may have drawn Epic’s attention, prompting their response.
After all, this glitch is quite unfair. Players can “hide” at the edge of the map until the storm spreads across the whole map. Honest players cannot avoid storm damage anymore, while glitchers can constantly heal themselves with the floppers.
It is also not the first time Epic has responded to such a glitch and disabled affected items. An exploit was so unfair that they had to remove grenades from the game shortly afterwards.
