The start of Season 3 in Fortnite is delayed again. After the season has already been postponed twice, there is now another wait for it.
This is what happened: On Wednesday, June 3, 2020, Epic Games provided an update on the status of the live event and the start of Season 3.
It’s clear: The live event and the start of Season 3 are being postponed again. The live event was originally scheduled for June 6 at 8:00 PM. Here are the new dates:
- Live event “The Device”: Monday, June 15 (probably 8:00 PM)
- Start of Season 3: Wednesday, June 17, 2020
What is the reason for the delay? That there could be a delay was almost clear after a special skin from a streamer was delayed because it was not “the right time”.
Now the delay has been officially confirmed, and Epic Games explained in the update why they made this decision. The United States is currently experiencing times of turmoil since 45-year-old African American George Floyd died during a police encounter in Minneapolis on May 25.
“The current events have brutally exposed to us the injustice that still exists in society. This is evident from the denial of basic rights to subtle or even overt racism against People of Color.”

They also mention that they are eager to release Season 3 but find it appropriate to give their employees a break so they can take care of themselves, their families, and their social environment.
Due to these events, they have decided to postpone the live event and the start of Season 3. They are also aware that this is now the third delay.
Not much is known about Season 3 in Chapter 2 of Fortnite at the moment. However, there are persistent rumors that it could be a “water season”.
