The current Season 5 in Fortnite is slowly coming to an end. Now, first hints are emerging in leaks that could indicate a shift toward the grand finale.
This is what’s happening in Fortnite: Fortnite just released the new update 15.50, which includes some minor changes to the weapons and modes of the game. However, the so-called Zero Point – the large energy ball in the center of the map – has also changed and now seems to be absorbing the aura around it. The Zero Point is literally the central point of the current map and an important part of new leaks.
Because with the update, data miners have again found new elements in the code that indicate some changes in the game.
What happens to the Zero Point?
The data miner Mang0e has researched the game’s data and found hints that the point is destabilizing. However, it apparently does not happen quietly and secretly; instead, it is said to unleash four larger “destabilization waves” over the map in the coming weeks. According to the data miner, these could be “mini-events” that are slowly building towards the transition to Season 6.
The changes could also manifest themselves on unusual levels. Mang0e found data suggesting that the Zero Point might even affect the voice chat in the game and overlay it with audio effects – for example, during one of the waves, or when approaching the Zero Point.
Additionally, Mang0e found hints of teleportation effects on NPCs caused by the Zero Point.
The waves emitted by the Zero Point are said to be called “Reality Waves.” It remains to be seen to what extent the Zero Point will cause changes. However, within the story, an exploding or collapsing Zero Point could represent a significant upheaval – after all, it also caused the last changes to the map and acted as a portal for characters.
However, keep in mind that all this content is currently based on data mines that have not been confirmed by Epic. To what extent these will be implemented in the game remains to be seen.
In the past, seasons often ended with a major live event that gradually built up in the weeks leading up – like the one with Galactus. It is conceivable that this is now the first steps towards a major event at the end of Season 5 – which is expected to happen soon.
When does Season 5 end? According to the Battle Pass, Season 5 – Chapter 2 ends on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. However, an official confirmation that the season will definitely end at that time is still pending. There have been cases in the past where the end of the season was postponed.
