Today, a new patch is coming to Fortnite for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and iOS. The Jetpack update 4.2 went live at 2 PM. We will take a look at the patch notes and see: a new type of item and two new modes are coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale.
Unusual procedure today. Although the new challenges went live at 10 AM, the servers stayed up. The patch came only at 2 PM along with the patch notes.
The highlight of the patch is a new item, the Jetpack, along with two new modes, “Solid Gold v2” and “Close Encounters.”
The highlights of patch 4.2 for Fortnite: Battle Royale
The Jetpack is coming now, available only in legendary (gold) and only in treasure chests. The Jetpack is also the first and only new item of a fresh category of items in Fortnite: “Backpack.” They normally occupy an inventory slot. You can only carry one Backpack at a time. While carrying such an item, the cosmetic “Back Bling” is not visible.
The Jetpack is activated when you jump in the air. You can reactivate it in the air until the fuel runs out. You cannot aim while in the air. When you activate the aiming mode with a controller, the Jetpack is triggered. The tip “Get back on the ground before you run out of fuel” should be taken seriously.
New mode Solid Gold v2 now live in Fortnite: Battle Royale
The new mode “Solid Gold v2” (Pures Gold v2) is coming, a modification of the old mode “Solid Gold”: Here all weapons are legendary, thus golden. Also, you will be able to farm stone and metal faster. There are fewer traps, bandages, and grenades, but more shield potions, special grenades, launch pads, and campfires. This mode is already live.
In addition, there is the new mode “Close Encounters”, which consists of shotguns and Jetpacks. Only shotguns in all variations drop as weapons. Jetpacks can be found in treasure chests and supply drops. A match is supposed to last 15 minutes. This mode is not yet live in Fortnite.
Highlights of the patch notes in Save the World
Quite meager, however, are the patch notes in PvE from “Save the World.” In the event store, there is a new heroine “Archaelogo-Jess” – she seems to be legendary. She will appear in the store during the night from Wednesday to Thursday.
Additionally, the weekly limit for Flux in the store has been doubled. You need that for “perk rerolling,” which was the big update in PvE last week. This also applies starting from the night of Wednesday to Thursday.
