In Fortnite: Battle Royale the overly powerful sword Infinity Blade was actually removed. Bizarrely, it seems that it can still be found. This has also been confirmed by Epic.
Where has the sword reappeared? Streamer Quemzi noticed after being eliminated from the game that someone was racking up kills with an Infinity Blade. This seemed quite bizarre to him, as the controversial blade was supposed to have vanished from the game since December 14.
Therefore, he took a closer look at the replay stream and immediately discovered a player named FaZe CloakTV, who was wielding the sword. It was likely an impersonator using a name similar to the famous player “FaZe cLoak”.

However, the sword did not bring the impersonator any luck; he was shot by another player. The winner of the duel then took the sword and threw it into the storm, where nobody could reach it.
Reasons for the sword’s return
How can the sword be back in the game? Unfortunately, Quemzi could not find out how exactly his opponent got the blade. It seemingly did not appear in other rounds. Presumably, it was a glitch or exploit that the player had taken advantage of in his match.
What does the community suspect? On Reddit, where Quemzi posted the video of his experience, several theories were also raised. Among other things, commentators suggested that perhaps the hotfix for the removal of the sword could not be applied to all servers and platforms at the same time.
Thus, some clients might still be blessed with the sword. Others speculated that the sword was simply too powerful to be kept locked away for long. Its power could not be contained by the “vault”. The vault is the virtual place where all weapons that have been removed from the game land.
What does Epic say about the return of the sword? The site DotEsports has already reached out to Epic and asked what is going on. So far, no response has been made public.
Epic comments on the sword
Update 7:42 PM: Epic Games has now actually confirmed the incident. There is a “very small chance” that the sword can appear in some matches. A community manager announced this via Reddit.
A fix is supposed to be implemented with tomorrow’s patch that will permanently banish the sword from Fortnite.
Not all players found the sword that bad. Our author Jürgen liked to use it to have a bit of success:
