In Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4, iOS, Switch & Xbox One) is about to continue with the new Season 5. So far, little is known about it. Dataminers have likely found hints of a desert map and a wild-west time travel theme.
Into the desert! The rocket has shaken the world of Fortnite deeply and in the California desert, the recently vanished Durr Burger has appeared. All of this is an indication of how Fortnite will evolve in the upcoming Season 5 on July 12, 2018. Many fans suspect a time travel theme for the 5th season of the colorful battle royale game. By now, there have been several solid hints that it could indeed be a desert and wild-west setting.
Stagecoaches and Hay Bales
These are the clues: The wild-west theme has already been teased earlier thanks to various dataminings. Among other things, campfires and poker tables were seen. Meanwhile, a stagecoach from the western era has even appeared at Moisty Mire. The clues for a wild-west theme are intensifying.
Hay Bales in real life: Meanwhile, something is also happening in the real world. In a desert in California, there is not just the burger head with now two agents. Rather, a kind of hay bale has also appeared in the vicinity. This fits with the wild west. It may soon disappear and then reappear in the game.
Dataminers find hints of a desert map!
Is a new map coming after all? In a tweet, “DieBuddies” posted a picture of the Fortnite map. The map is completely depicted as a desert there. You can recognize the important landmarks, but due to the steppe and desert theme, everything looks different.
Video shows new desert map in Fortnite thanks to a bug!
This is what the new map version looks like: Meanwhile, DieBuddies have kept their promise and shown a video with the new map. They could play the new map already thanks to a bug.
Same map in a different guise? The “new” map still seems to be the well-known Fortnite map. It apparently just got a new desert look. However, it is quite possible that Epic will make some changes to the map before it most likely launches on July 12. In any case, the new map version seems to indicate even more the western theme.
