The cars of Season 3 in Fortnite are one of the highlights. But driving doesn’t work. When can you zoom around the map?
This was announced: On June 17, Season 3 of Chapter 2 in Fortnite: Battle Royale began. At the start of the season, there were already some new features and content.
In the Battle Pass trailer for Season 3, it says “During your adventure, there will be new areas to explore, new means of transportation, and cool surprises.” During this sentence, the video shows various cars driving across the map. Among them is a pickup truck with a loading area where presumably teammates can sit.
Why can’t you drive cars in Fortnite?
This is the problem: While the vehicles have already been spotted at various locations on the new map, no one can drive them yet. A large part of the map has been flooded.
For the cars, there are currently few ways to zoom around with them. Besides, you currently can’t even get in. Your means of transport are currently sharks or boats.
When can you drive cars? It seems that it will take weeks before driving in Fortnite will be unlocked.
Recognized leakers from the Fortnite community state that the water will gradually lower over the course of Season 3. This would theoretically rule out sharks and boats as mobility aids. Only then would the vehicles become attractive.
This also matches the statement from Epic Games themselves. They write on their website: “Over time, the water level will lower and more places will be revealed. As new paths open up to you, you will also be able to travel them in new ways …” (via epicgames.com)
