In Fortnite: Battle Royale, a new meta might soon emerge. The developers have buffed shotguns and will soon introduce an even better version of the regular pump shotgun.
What’s the deal with the new weapon? You can currently admire a new weapon in Fortnite through an in-game message: the Epic and Legendary Pump Shotgun. This is not a new weapon per se, but another upgrade of the regular pump.
Up until now, there was only a blue quality tier “Rare” at most. With the upgrade, you will soon be able to find a purple or even golden version of the shotgun. It should behave like a regular version but have significantly improved stats.
Currently, the new shotgun is here and players love it.
The new update makes shotguns much more reliable
The new shotgun comes with a massive buff for the pump shotgun and shotguns in general. The pump is supposed to become deadlier at short range but lose overall range.
Additionally, there is the shotgun buff: All shotguns, including the tactical, the heavy, and the double shotgun, will deal higher minimum damage.
More minimum damage: Every shotgun fires a load of small pellets. The more that hit, the more damage is dealt. If you hit with the full load, the opponent is usually finished.
However, if you only hit one or two pellets, you only deal embarrassing single-digit damage.
With the buff, hits with one or two pellets should deal as much damage as if three pellets had hit.
That sounds great, when will it be in the game? The new shotgun and the buff are expected for update 6.31. This patch is likely coming tomorrow, on November 27.
Excited players, is the new meta coming?
The news about the new weapon and the changes to the shotguns have generated a lot of excitement in the community. Many shotgun fans are thrilled and say: “That was exactly what I wanted, thanks Epic!”. Shotguns could once again become a dominant part of the meta.
Others lament that with the new gameplay mechanics, Fortnite requires even less skill, making the game a casual shooting gallery. And there are still players who want the double shotgun back.
Currently, however, the game is plagued by completely different issues: Towers are too strong!
