In Fortnite, since the release of Chapter 4, there are capture points. We’ll show you what they’re all about, where to find them, and whether they are worth it for you.
What are capture points? In Fortnite, you can travel to various POIs on the new map to capture so-called “capture points”. These points are marked by a huge white circle and a flag structure in the middle of the POI.
As a player, you now have the opportunity to capture these to gain control over the area. Despite the simple system, many players die when trying to capture, as they are often taken down. We will show you if the effort of a capture is even worth it.

Area controls with strong loot – Is the effort worth it?
If you’ve now decided to capture an area, you need to know what you’ll get in return.
Once successfully taken over, all opponents in the nearby area are marked with an arrow. Additionally, all chests in the area can be spotted through walls, and as a bonus, you’ll receive a collection of weapons, items, and grenades.

Not a bad deal, but the risk of going down is very high. Players in your vicinity will notice when an area is being captured. This makes you an easy target, as you have to stand in the white circle until the zone is taken.
If you prefer to visit a more remote POI, you can expect less enemy contact and thus equip yourself well with weapons and items at the start of a round. So it is definitely worth it if you have a good tactic.
Here’s how to easily capture areas: To easily take a capture zone, you should either seek out a remote area or wait until a team tries to take one. You can surprise your opponents with an ambush, rocket launchers, or the new shockwave hammer and sweep them off the map in no time.
The zones are often located in open areas with little cover, so it’s worth clearing the area of enemies first. To gain better cover later on, you can place cow catchers or portable forts. This ensures an easier capture.
Where can I find capture points? To find a capture point, you need to visit a large POI. You can find these on the map. Only large POIs are documented with their place names on the map. Go to one of these places and look for a large white circle with a banner.
Also note that an already captured area can still be captured. However, the captor before you will be notified and may become aware of you as well.
That was all the important information about the capture points. What do you think of the new system behind the territories? Do you think it makes the match even more exciting? Feel free to leave us a comment on that!
