In Fortnite, a notorious yet predominantly powerful weapon combination is back. With the Railgun and Recon Scanner, you can instill fear and terror in your opponents.
There’s a short-term change in the loot pool in Fortnite: The Kippwelt weapons, which had just returned to the game, are saying goodbye.
Instead, you can now find the well-known “Railgun” and “Recon Scanner” on the island. And you should really look for them – because this combination packs a punch.
What makes the Railgun and Recon Scanner so dangerous?
These are the weapons: The “Railgun” is a weapon that has a reputation for being quite powerful, not just in Fortnite. There are also versions of “Railguns” in games like GTA Online or Quake that can cause significant damage. When it first appeared in Fortnite, it was immediately among the best weapons back then.
The Railgun is categorized as a sniper rifle because it works wonderfully at long distances and uses heavy ammunition. However, it packs significantly more punch than “normal” sniper rifles: it shoots straight through walls.
There is a short “charging phase” when you pull the trigger, but that can also be utilized. For those few seconds, it shows precisely with a laser where the shot will land. This helps immensely with aiming – especially since the weapon always shoots straight, the bullet does not drop.
While opponents can see the laser as well, escaping is still incredibly difficult.
The Railgun is also popular as a vehicle killer. In the past, the cannon caused quite a bit of fear sweat among UFO pilots, but UFOs are currently not available in Fortnite. At the moment, the massively strong tanks could be a target for the Railgun.
Particularly interesting is the Railgun in Fortnite’s “Zero Build” mode. In this mode, you cannot simply build upwards to escape the Railgun, you must somehow evade on the ground.
And the second new, old weapon will likely cause even more chaos here.
This is the Recon Scanner: The Recon Scanner functions like a grenade launcher but does not cause damage. Instead, it shoots out a probe that marks your enemies in a fairly large area.
In Battle Royale, where stealth can be crucial, this is quite useful.
The Scanner is likely to have interesting effects in the new no-building environment as well. Here, players often hide in large bushes to stealthily move through the round. This will likely become more difficult thanks to constant scans.
And lastly, there’s the combination of both weapons: even if you hide in buildings, the Scanner can detect you and show opponents where you are located. If they also have a Railgun, you are not even safe behind the walls of your supposedly secure hideout.
Where can I find the weapons? There is no guaranteed location for the weapons; they spawn randomly on the map and appear in crates. Both weapons are associated with the “IO” – possibly, you have a better chance of finding the weapons in IO crates.
However, this will only become clear in the coming days. You shouldn’t have too much trouble finding both weapons in Battle Royale. And it can be worth the effort: until May 31, you can complete objectives with the Rail Gun that will earn you some serious XP.
Also new in the game is the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” skin from Star Wars. But unfortunately, he has the completely wrong weapon.
